Did you know?
Hornbills nest in natural tree cavities. When the nest is ready and the eggs have been laid, the female is sealed in with a wall made of mud, drop-
pings and fruit pulp. In the end only a narrow aperture is left that is big enough for the male to transfer food to the mother and chicks. When
the chicks turn into fledglings, the entrance to the cavity is reopened.
