Your directions to Zoo Leipzig

The following routes are marked by animal footprints on the ground:

• Dschungelpfad: 570m to the zoo from the tram stop Wilhelm-Liebknecht-Platz
• Entdeckerschlucht: 630m to the zoo from the tram stop Goerdelerring
• Schlängelroute: 820m to the zoo from the central train station

Zoo Leipzig is easy to reach with local (S-Bahn), regional and long-distance trains. Leipzig’s central train station is very close: take tram No. 12 or walk approx. 10 minutes to the zoo. Groups from the region can also use the regional train ticket (Sachsen-Ticket ) or an MDV transport network ticket that includes local trains, trams and buses to get to Zoo Leipzig.

With the regional train tickets „Sachsen-Ticket“, „Sachsen-Anhalt-Ticket“ and „Thüringen-Ticket“ you can use all local trains, trams and buses within the MDV network (Jan 2020, subject to changes).

Zoo Leipzig is close and easy to reach by tram.

Zoo Leipzig is well connected to cycle routes. Our tip: If you are coming from a long distance, you could always take your bike on the train or bus and cycle the last section. Find out more about bringing your bike with you here. Opposite the zoo between the two covered parking garages there are plenty of bike stands. You can store your bike helmets or other pieces of baggage at the service point next to the zoo entrance. There is also a battery charging station for e-bikes (own charger needed) behind the photo bus next to the late exit. Ask one of our employees at the turnstiles about this. Collection is possible during zoo opening times.

You can find the current times and fares of intercity buses under: busradar.com or flixbus.co.uk. There are direct connections from many German cities to Leipzig at decent prices with MeinFernbus that operates services several times a day.

Coaches stop at the central intercity coach station on the East side of the central train station. From there you can catch the tram number 12 or walk to the zoo.

There are many ways to reach Zoo Leipzig. If you use your route planner you will be able to find the best route.

Please observe traffic control systems to the zoo’s covered parking garages in the Parthenstraße 8. The data used by route planners and satnav systems are not always up-to-date! If you drive to the zoo from the city centre or from the West of Leipzig, you cannot enter the zoo’s parking garages directly from the Pfaffendorfer Straße. Please follow the local signs.

Low emission zone

Important information for all drivers: Leipzig has a ‘low emission zone’, where access is only authorised for cars, buses and utility vehicles with the low emission zone sticker.
