Did you know?
Sunbitterns live individually or in pairs in dense vegetation along the riverbanks of tropical forests. When foraging they strut slowly through the forest or shallow water catching invertebrates and small vertebrates by rapid thrusts of their bills. When there is eminent danger they impressively display their wings and remiges to intimidate potential enemies with the large eyespots on their wings.
