Did you know?

These armadillos can roll into a ball when threatened. The bony plates covering the head and tail protect them from predators – even though a small gap usually remains. This gap will only close when a predator attempts to claw its way inside. For this reason, Southern three-banded armadillos have very few predators. They are however hunted by man for their meat – the balls making them easy targets.
