Pied imperial pigeons inhabit forests, coconut groves and mangrove swamps. They usually forage and roost on small islands. They are social birds that form colonies, which then move in their colony from island to island. These pigeons feed on nutmegs, figs and other fruits. They lay a single egg with brooding lasting 26–28 days.
