Did you know?
Long-eared hedgehogs are very well adapted to hot and arid habitats. Their distinctive 3 to 4 cm long ears help them to regulate body temperature. In extreme heat these hedgehogs also go into heat hibernation, while in colder regions they also hibernate.
They are particularly resistant and can survive for up to ten weeks without food and water in extreme cases.
