The yellow-billed amazon is endemic to two small areas on Jamaica, where it can be found in fruit-bearing trees in tropical karst forests. The species is threatened by the loss of its habitat and by illegal poaching and trade. The nests are usually made in tree hol- lows, often in breadfruit trees. However, woodpecker holes are also used. Three to four eggs are incubated for 24 –25 days.
