Victoria crowned pigeons can weigh more than 2 kg and therefore belong to the largest pigeons. These diurnal birds inhabit lowland swamp forests. They live in pairs or in small groups. They forage almost exclusively on the ground for fruits, seeds, shoots, insects and snails. Nests are built at heights of up to 10 meters, in which a single egg is laid and then incubated for ca. 30 days.
