Brahminy mynahs inhabit dry forests, shrublands and cultivated landscapes up to 1,800 m. These social birds forage on the ground, where they are often associated with other species of starlings. They feed on insects, spiders, fruits and nectar. Brahminy mynahs preferentially build their nests in tree hollows, which they line
with plant material. They lay a clutch of 3–5 eggs with brooding lasting approx. 12 days.
