Did you know?
Crowned pigeons can grow to over 70 cm in length and weigh 2.25 kg, making them the largest pigeons in the world. Their call sounds so unexpectedly deep that it could almost be mistaken for a distant ship's horn. In their native New Guinea, they are widely hunted and their habitat is threatened by logging. They are therefore almost only found in remote forests.
