Did you know?
Using a small tooth to penetrate the eggshell (similar to the egg tooth of chicks), Lesser Antillean whistling frogs hatch out of their fertilized eggs after ca. 13 days as fully developed young frogs. These are only 3.5 mm long, later growing to 35 mm. The tadpole stage takes place within the egg. In spite of their small size you can clearly hear these frogs throughout Gondwana- land.
