Did you know?
The eggs of Chinese bamboo partridges are brooded by the hens alone. The cock takes part in guiding the chicks. Outside the mating season, bamboo partridges live in pairs or in groups of up to 20 individuals. Mating pairs calling in duets are frequently observed. Therefore, it is assumed that mating pairs live monogamously.
