Gallus gallus domesticus
Welsummer chickens originated in Holland and from 1935 dwarf Welsummer chickens have been bred from them in Germany. In fact, they have now become the most popular breed of bantam here with the largest distribution. As a chicken breed they are good egg-layers and produce a good meat quality.

Found in Europe for centuries. All domestic chicken breeds originally descend from the Bankiva chicken (Gallus gallus) in South-east Asia.
