Did you know?

In captivity poison dart frogs mostly lose their toxicity. Native to South America, they would normally obtain their toxins from their diet e.g. ants and termites. Such toxins protect them from being eaten by predators, keeping their skin free of parasites and pathogens. Indigenous people still use the toxins secreted from
the skin for hunting wild animals. In the zoo the frogs are mainly fed fruit flies, springtails and micro-crickets.
