Budgerigars originate from Australia, where they still live in the wild today. They are naturally green with a yellow face – a colour variety that can also be seen in our aviary. All other colour mutations are from breeding.

Savannahs and steppes as well as open grassy areas in Central Australia
Budgerigars breed in tree hollows, in which they lay 4–6 eggs. Incubation takes 18 days.
