These frogs are endemic to the relatively dry primary mountain forests at the foot of the Cordillera del Condor at altitudes of 900 to 1,100 meters. They are found almost exclusively in tree canopies covered with the bromeliad species Aechmea nudicollis. The frogs lay their eggs in these bromeliads. Their 5–8 eggs are given special care for 15 days. They feed primarily on ants, termites, beetles and flies.
