Iguana iguana rhinolopha
Green iguanas inhabit rainforests, shrublands as well as savannah and can often be found lying on trees overhanging water. They are excellent climbers, jumpers and swimmers. If approached by predators, they drop into the water from heights of up to 20 m. While young iguanas also feed on insects, adults are almost exclusively herbivores. Green iguanas bury up to 80 eggs in the soil. The young hatch after 70–110 days.
