Did you know?
This very small heron species is found in habitats ranging from rivers and lakes to rice paddies and
mangroves. Food sources include fish and invertebrates, but also amphibians. Its clutch comprises
of 3–5 eggs with brooding lasting ca. 24 days. Status according to Red List: least concern
