Fulvous whistling ducks inhabit bogs and marshes with tall grasses.They owe their name to the whistle-like sounds that they often give off when flying. Whistling ducks are predominantly active at dawn and dusk and roost in large colonies outside of the breeding season. They feed mainly on plants and usually forage
by dabbling or diving. Normally, the brooding of 6–16 eggs lasts 24–28 days.
