We provide many attractive services that make a trip to the zoo easier for families. At the entrance to the zoo you can hire strollers and carts (for a charge of EUR 2,50 per day and a deposit of EUR 10). Reservations can be made up until 6pm on the day before your visit. Should you wish to use a quiet nursing area, please report to the safari office. There are several baby changing facilities in the zoo. Tip: to prevent your child from getting lost, pick up a sticker from the Safari Office, write your mobile phone number on it and stick it on your child.
The Zoo Leipzig has been certified as a family-friendly institution.
Whether it be climbing, digging or simply romping about, kids love our playgrounds. Within minutes of arriving at Pongoland your children can experience wild adventures on the Safari truck or ape around in the jungle village. On the playground at the Hacienda Las Casas your little ones can play while you slurp your coffee in peace. The Safari train and the jungle path are among other highlights that will make your little ones’ eyes light up.
Whether it is stroking animal hides, smelling orchid blossoms or touching the rain forest – at various learning stations your children can learn a lot through play about our zoo and its animals. In Pongoland you can even test your own strength compared to a gorilla’s and you can time travel through the Earth’s history in Gondwanaland (not on foot, but by boat on the jungle river).
The kids will be in their element! In the animal kindergarden and in the petting area children can watch and stroke rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens, pigeons, pigs or goats. Furthermore, for those who have always wanted to touch a fish, you have the opportunity to do so in the aquarium.
Anyone embarking on a real discovery tour of the zoo, might naturally also get really hungry. The Restaurant Palmensaal, the Restaurant Patakan and the Kiwara Lodge all cater for the needs of children with special snacks and children’s menus. Here you will also find play areas, children’s’ high chairs, baby changing facilities and coat pegs at children’s height.
